President Marcos expresses gratitude to Israel for supporting OFWs amid tensions

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed his gratitude to the Israeli government for its swift support to Filipinos affected by the conflict between Israeli forces and Iranian-backed militants. In a phone call with Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Wednesday, Marcos acknowledged Israel’s assistance to Filipino workers and residents in the region.

The president also emphasized the importance of a peaceful resolution to the ongoing unrest in the Middle East. Marcos noted that Israel remains a key partner of the Philippines in the region.

Last week, he directed government agencies to ensure the safety and possible repatriation of Filipinos caught in the conflict. During the 19th East Asia Summit in Laos, Marcos, along with other regional leaders, raised concerns over the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
