Intramuros, the iconic Walled City of Manila, is once again vying for the prestigious title of World’s Leading Tourist Attraction in the 2024 World Travel Awards. Having secured the title in 2020, the historic site is aiming to reclaim its global recognition as it competes with 21 other renowned destinations worldwide.
Intramuros faces stiff competition from attractions such as the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the Grand Canyon in the US, and Machu Picchu in Peru. Other notable contenders include the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal in India, and Niagara Falls in Canada.
The Intramuros Administration is encouraging the public to support the city’s bid by casting their votes through the World Travel Awards website. Voting closes on October 24, 2024.
Intramuros has already been named Asia’s Leading Tourist Attraction four times, including this year.
