Detained religious leader Apollo Quiboloy has officially entered the race for a Senate seat in the 2025 elections. On Tuesday, October 8, his lawyer, Mark Tolentino, filed Quiboloy’s Certificate of Candidacy (COC) on his behalf, armed with a Special Power of Attorney.
Quiboloy, founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC), is known for his controversial claims of being the “Appointed Son of God” and his influence among his followers. His candidacy comes amid ongoing legal battles, including his indictment in the United States in 2021 for sex trafficking and other allegations involving coercion of girls and young women. Despite these charges, which he denies, Quiboloy’s religious and political influence remains significant, and his church continues its operations.
The filing of his candidacy is the latest development in his involvement in Philippine politics, where he has previously supported key figures, including former President Rodrigo Duterte.
