Philippine embassy in Oman advises minimum salary for OFWs set at P42,700

The Embassy of the Philippines in Muscat has issued an advisory mandating that all Filipino workers in Oman should receive a minimum salary of OMR290 or approximately P42,700 per month. This guideline, released by the Philippine Overseas Labour Office and the office of the Labour Attaché, aims to safeguard the rights of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the Sultanate.

The advisory also emphasized key rights for OFWs, including the retention of passports unless voluntarily entrusted, a paid weekly rest day, and proper compensation. Domestic workers must receive at least OMR160 monthly, while skilled workers should earn above this amount.

Sponsors are also required to provide adequate food, safe accommodation, free transportation, and comprehensive health and accident insurance throughout the contract period.
