Dubai has announced the approval of the ‘Suspended Transport Systems Project,’ a 65-kilometer smart mobility network that will link Umm Suqeim Street, Al Khor, and Zabeel. This innovative initiative is part of a broader plan to enhance Dubai’s leadership across various sectors over the next decade.
The Dubai Media Office (DMO) highlighted that this project aims to boost autonomous transport, with the goal of making 25% of all trips in the emirate driverless by 2030. The system will be integrated with existing public transportation to improve efficiency and sustainability.
While specific details remain limited, earlier presentations by the Roads and Transport Authority showcased ‘sky pods’ based on suspended technology. These pods, running on elevated tracks, promise a smooth and scenic journey for passengers as they travel above the city.
