Filipino students excel at 2024 World Robot Contest in Malaysia, bringing home multiple awards

The Philippine team made a significant impact at the 2024 World Robot Contest – Super AI Challenge held at Universiti Tenaga Nasional in Putrajaya, Malaysia, on August 17-18, 2024. Competing against 170 teams from across the globe, the Philippine delegates showcased their exceptional skills in robotics and artificial intelligence, securing multiple awards and demonstrating their prowess on the international stage.

In the highly competitive Super AI Super Track Race, Lana Venice P. Manila, a standout in the Lower Secondary category, earned the prestigious International Excellence Award. Her innovative approach and technical acumen distinguished her among participants, reflecting the strong foundation in robotics education in the Philippines.

Equally impressive were the achievements of Smith Lloyd Bunao, who also received the International Excellence Award in the Lower Primary category. His early mastery of robotics skills underscores the growing interest and capability in science and technology among young Filipinos.

The sibling duo, Miguel Jared William J. Uy and Jenina Aaliyah Elisha J. Uy, further elevated the Philippines’ standing by securing the 2nd Place Best Robot Performance Awards in their respective categories within the Lower Primary division. Their teamwork and dedication were evident as they navigated through the complex challenges of the Super AI Super Track Race, impressing both judges and peers.

These young talents were expertly guided by Coach James Ryan Justo from Erovoutika Electronics Robotics Automation, whose mentorship and strategic coaching were instrumental in preparing the team for the contest. His guidance was crucial in honing the students’ skills and boosting their confidence, leading to their remarkable performances.

The competition featured teams from various countries, each showcasing their unique technological advancements and innovative solutions in robotics.

The 2024 World Robot Contest in Malaysia was organized by Intelek Education Solutions Sdn Bhd and supported by several educational institutions, including Methodist College Kuala Lumpur. The event featured different categories, such as the “Super AI Challenge” and “Alpha Challenge,” which catered to various educational levels from elementary to high school.
