The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that starting August 17, 2024, the minimum top-up amount for Nol cards at ticket offices in metro stations will be increased from AED 20 to AED 50. The announcement was made through a post on their X (formerly Twitter) account.
“The minimum card recharge limit will increase to AED 50 at ticket offices in metro stations, starting from August 17, 2024,” the RTA stated in their post. Alongside this announcement, the RTA shared a short video clip encouraging Nol users to switch to digital top-ups using the RTA’s online services.
“Make your journeys smoother on board [public transportation] with our digital services,” the RTA wrote, urging commuters to recharge their Nol cards via the Authority’s website, Nol payment application, or the RTA app. “Recharge your Nol card from anywhere easily and with the balance you want… to ensure your convenience and save your time,” they added.
The RTA also reminded commuters to maintain a minimum balance of AED 7.50 on their Nol cards to avoid fines, as the Authority conducts random checks on public transportation.
