Siargao, the Philippines’ famous surfing destination, has been ranked the fourth most affordable tourist spot in Asia, according to recent booking data from travel platform Agoda. The island offers an average room rate of just PHP 3,323, making it one of the cheapest among nine popular Asian destinations.
The data, collected between mid-June and late September, places Siargao just behind Hat Yai in Thailand, Yogyakarta in Indonesia, and Kuching in Malaysia in terms of affordability.
Located in Surigao Del Norte, Siargao is celebrated for its surfing-friendly beaches, clear waters, eco-friendly initiatives, and lively local scene. The island has been a frequent honoree in travel awards, including being named the “Best Island in Asia” in 2018 by Condé Nast Traveler.
Other destinations on the list include Dalat in Vietnam, Narita in Japan, and Goa in India. Siargao’s recognition underscores its appeal not only as a surfing paradise but also as an accessible travel destination for budget-conscious tourists.
