Vicente Del Rosario Jr., the visionary behind Viva Communications, Inc., was awarded the Ulirang Alagad ng Pelikula sa Likod ng Kamera Lifetime Achievement Award at the 40th Star Awards by the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC). Known as Boss Vic, Del Rosario has significantly contributed to the entertainment industry since founding Viva on November 11, 1981.
Under his leadership, Viva expanded from a movie and music business to include talent management, radio broadcasting, foreign film distribution, and even the food industry. His efforts have nurtured the careers of numerous Filipino stars such as Sharon Cuneta, Vilma Santos, Regine Velasquez, Anne Curtis, Sarah Geronimo, and Nadine Lustre.
In addition to Del Rosario’s recognition, veteran actress Liza Lorena received the Nora Aunor Ulirang Artista Lifetime Achievement Award. The Dekada Award was given to Vilma Santos, Christopher De Leon, and Piolo Pascual for their consistent performance and numerous acting accolades over the past decade.
Ronald Constantino, a seasoned movie columnist, was honored with the Ethel Ramos Dean’s Lister Award for his contributions to entertainment journalism.
The PMPC also revealed a partial list of winners for the 40th Star Awards. Notable winners include JC Santos and LA Santos as Movie Supporting Actors of the Year for “Mallari” and “In His Mother’s Eyes,” respectively, and Gladys Reyes as Movie Supporting Actress of the Year for “Here Comes The Groom.”
The 40th PMPC Star Awards took place at the Henry Lee Irwin Theater at the Ateneo De Manila University in Quezon City on Sunday, July 21. The winners for major categories, such as Movie Actress of the Year and Movie Director of the Year, will be announced during the awards night.
