Former Filipina actress Bangs Garcia joyfully announced her new status as a British citizen, seven years after marrying her British husband, Lloyd Birchmore. Garcia shared the milestone with her fans on Instagram, posting a photo with British officials and a document confirming her “pledged allegiance” to the United Kingdom.
“A year late, but I’m glad I finally had time to sort out my citizenship this year. I’ve just pledged allegiance to King Charles III and the United Kingdom earlier. Therefore, I’m officially a British citizen today,” Garcia wrote in her caption.
The couple, who married in 2017, had three wedding ceremonies: a civil wedding in England, a private church wedding, and a beach wedding in Boracay. They currently reside in the U.K. with their two daughters, Amelia and Isabella.
Garcia first rose to fame as a runner-up in ABS-CBN’s Close-Up to Fame talent search in 2005. She landed her first role in “Daddy Di Do Du” the same year and went on to audition for the sitcom “Let’s Go!” and the first teen edition of “Pinoy Big Brother.”
During her acting career, Garcia received accolades such as Best Supporting Actress at the 2011 PASADO Awards for “Segunda Mano” and another PASADO award in 2013 for her role in “Lauriana.” Her filmography includes titles like “Bulong,” “Palos,” “Shake, Rattle & Roll XI,” and the TV shows “Katorse” and “Kambal sa Uma.”
