The UAE has significantly expedited the process for cancelling a worker’s work permit, reducing the time required from three minutes to just 45 seconds, and eliminating the need for any documents. According to a Khaleej Times report, this enhancement is part of the second phase of the Work Bundle platform, aimed at streamlining worker services.
On Monday, July 8, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) announced this service upgrade, emphasizing the goal of providing customers with a hassle-free experience. Key improvements in the process include:
- Eliminating document requests entirely
- Enabling automatic approval
- Reducing the number of required fields from seven to two
- Shortening the processing time to 45 seconds
Several government ministries and federal authorities collaborated to launch this platform, which also facilitates the hiring of new employees for businesses and the pre-renewal of work permits for existing employees.
The first phase of Work Bundle was introduced in Dubai in March and has now been extended to all seven emirates. The second phase aims to cover about 600,000 companies and over seven million workers.
Previously, the UAE reduced the time to process documents for work permits and residency visas from 30 days to five days. The Work Bundle platform consolidates eight work and residency procedures into one, simplifying services for onboarding new employees, including:
- Issuing a new work permit
- Requesting status adjustments
- Issuing visas and employment contracts
Providing Emirates ID, residency, and medical examination services
The platform also streamlines the renewal of employment contracts, Emirates IDs, residencies, and medical examinations, as well as the cancellation of employment contracts, work permits, and residencies.
