Indian engineer from Abu Dhabi wins $1 million in Dubai Duty Free draw

An Indian engineer and instructor based in Abu Dhabi, Khaliq Naik Mohammed, has won $1 million in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire and Finest Surprise draw held on Wednesday at Terminal 2 of Dubai International Airport.

Khaliq, a 48-year-old father of three, became a millionaire with ticket number 3813, which he purchased online on June 13. Living in Abu Dhabi since 2012 and working at Khalifa University, he has been participating in Dubai Duty Free’s promotions for the past four years.

“This is really great; thank you so much, Dubai Duty Free! You have made the lives of so many people, and I am grateful to be one of them,” said Khaliq. He plans to use his winnings primarily for his children’s education and his family’s future, as well as to support charitable causes.

The draw also saw other winners in the Finest Surprise category. Nazeer E, a 44-year-old Pakistani resident of Dubai, won a Mercedes Benz S500 (Graphite Grey) with ticket number 1137. Nazeer, who works for a logistics company and has lived in Dubai for 20 years, previously won a BMW motorbike in June 2022. “Thank you very much Dubai Duty Free for this grateful win,” he said.

Kevin DSouza, a 40-year-old Portuguese national and Emirates Airline pilot residing in Dubai since 2017, won a BMW S 1000 R (M Package) motorbike with ticket number 0045. “Thank you, Dubai Duty Free! It’s a nice opportunity to take part and win, and I’m very grateful for that,” he expressed.

Lastly, Rajasekaran Samaresan, an Indian based in the UAE, won a BMW R 1250 RS (White/Blue/Red Metallic) motorbike with ticket number 1139.
