Labor attache John Rio Bautista pays tribute to OFWs in UAE on Philippine Independence Day

On June 12, 2024, Atty. John Rio Bautista, Labor Attache of the Migrant Workers Office – Dubai and the Northern Emirates, honored the contributions of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the UAE during the celebration of the 126th Philippine Independence Day.

In a heartfelt message, Atty. Bautista praised the resilience and dedication of Filipino workers, likening them to the nation’s historical heroes. “On this auspicious occasion of the 126th Philippine Independence Day, we honor the unwavering spirit and resilience of the Filipino people,” he stated. “From the heroes of the past who fought for freedom to the modern-day champions of progress, the Filipino migrant workers, let us celebrate the rich tapestry of our history and the boundless potential of our nation.”

Addressing the Filipino community in the UAE, Bautista acknowledged their significant contributions to various fields and the positive impact they have on their employers and the country. “To our beloved Overseas Filipino Workers, you have made your mark here in the UAE. You are loved by your employers and are contributing so much in your respective fields. Your dedication and remarkable hard work through the years have not gone unnoticed. We appreciate your sacrifices for your family, for our country, and for your work in the UAE.”

He further emphasized the parallels between the sacrifices of OFWs and the nation’s forefathers. “As we commemorate the 126th Philippine Independence, we liken our OFWs, our modern-day heroes, to our forefathers who have sacrificed a lot in order that we can celebrate freedom today.”

Concluding his tribute, Atty. Bautista called for the continued upholding of democratic values. “May this day serve as a reminder of the sacrifices made and the struggles endured for the sake of liberty. As we look to the future, let us continue to uphold the values of democracy, unity, inclusivity, and patriotism that define us as a people.”
