Bahrain Dragon Boat Club hosts successful Dragon Boat Festival

The Bahrain Dragon Boat Club (BDBC) and the Chinese Association of Bahrain hosted the dynamic “Friendly Race 2024” Dragon Boat Festival on June 1, 2024, at Bahrain Bay Beach. The event drew dragon boat teams from across the region, including the RP Eagles, Legion of Vikings, Pirates, and Sea Dragons, for a day filled with intense racing and cultural festivities.

The competition was fierce, with the Legion of Vikings clinching the championship with a remarkable time of 40.64 seconds. The RP Eagles showcased their prowess, securing both second and third places, with Team A finishing at 43.53 seconds and Team B at 44.04 seconds. The Pirates followed in fourth place with a time of 44.9 seconds, while the Sea Dragons completed the race in 49.14 seconds.

Ms. Gem Reyes expertly hosted the event, with Mr. Joel Lara joining from Dubai as co-host, adding an international flavor to the occasion. Special appreciation was extended to BDBC Official Rommel Delma for his precise scorekeeping, and to volunteers Almuradi, Mike, and Bryan for their crucial contributions to the event’s smooth execution.

A highlight of the festival was the intermission performance by the Chinese Association of Bahrain, who presented a traditional dragon boat dance, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the sport. The “Friendly Race 2024” was a resounding success, embodying camaraderie, competitive excellence, and cultural exchange.
