Senator Risa Hontiveros released documents on Thursday, May 30, revealing the possible identity of the mother of Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo. The documents suggest that Lin Wen Yi, a Chinese national, may be Mayor Guo’s mother.
This revelation followed Senator Sherwin Gatchalian’s interview where he mentioned that residents of Valenzuela identified Lin Wen Yi as Guo’s mother during their time living in the city. Documents from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) show that Lin Wen Yi is an incorporator in several businesses associated with Mayor Guo.
Hontiveros highlighted that Mayor Guo’s siblings, Shiela L. Guo and Siemen L. Guo, her father Jian Zhong Guo, and Lin Wen Yi are co-incorporators in seven businesses: QJJ Group of Companies, QJJ Farms, QJJ Embroidery, QJJ Meat Shop, 3LIN-Q Farm, QJJ Slaughterhouse, and QSeed Genetics.
“The identity of Mayor Alice’s mother is crucial to this whole saga. If the mother is Chinese and the father is also Chinese, it will prove that Mayor Guo is not really Filipino. The bigger question is: Why did she need to fake it? What’s with the deceit and lies?” Hontiveros questioned.
Hontiveros criticized Mayor Guo’s credibility, stating, “If Mayor Alice lied about her siblings, it’s not surprising she would hide the real identity of her mother. She has been lying through her teeth during the past two hearings. There’s a lot of fiction, and almost no truth coming from her.”
The senator also noted the suspicious nature of the family’s business dealings, pointing out that travel records show Jian Zhong Guo and Lin Wen Yi traveled together at least 170 times over six years. “Are they business partners or actual partners?” Hontiveros asked.
Hontiveros further cited a Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) document confirming the birthdates and addresses of Mayor Guo’s alleged family members. The document raised questions about Lin’s birthdate in 1971, which would mean she was only 15 when Mayor Guo was born, and 13 when she gave birth to Shiela.
“We also have another source who stated that ‘Winnie’ is what Mayor Guo’s mother is called. Is this a Filipinized version of Lin Wen Yi? Why is this being kept a secret? Who is this family? Why is it shrouded in mystery? We will get to the bottom of this,” Hontiveros asserted.
