A Filipino entrepreneur is offering free swimming lessons to the Filipino community. This opportunity is given in exchange for participating in beach cleanup activities.
This program, now in its third year, targets individuals in Dubai, including those on visit visas.
“Our goal is to teach proper swimming techniques so that participants can not only prevent drowning but also potentially secure employment within the watersports industry,” Bimbo Calitis, the owner of Amphibious Surf and Swim School in Dubai, told The Global Filipino Magazine.
He emphasized the dual benefits of acquiring vital skills and contributing positively to the community by keeping the beaches clean.
The environmental cleanup and free swim lessons are scheduled to take place from June to September 2024, starting at 8 AM at Jumeirah 1 Public Beach near La Mer. Calitis is passionate about continuing this advocacy to aid his compatriots and encourage more Filipinos to get involved.
