Visitors to Dubai’s Arabian Travel Market (ATM) will have the opportunity to interact with the second generation of the world’s first AI-powered cabin crew, as Qatar Airways introduces Sama 2.0.
Scheduled to participate in the annual exhibition at the Dubai World Trade Centre from May 6 to 9, 2024, Sama 2.0 promises to provide real-time assistance and curated travel experiences to attendees.
“We are excited to showcase Sama 2.0 at ATM, where visitors can experience firsthand the capabilities of our digital human crew,” said a spokesperson for Qatar Airways.
The AI-powered crew will be stationed at the Qatar Airways pavilion in Hall No.2, offering assistance with FAQs, destination information, and travel support tips.
Moreover, Qatar Airways’ customers will have the opportunity to virtually interact with Sama 2.0 through the airline’s immersive digital platform, QVerse, or its mobile app.
The unveiling of Sama 2.0 follows Qatar Airways’ launch of the holographic virtual cabin crew at ITB Berlin earlier this year.
In related news, Qatar Airways recently announced the appointment of Badr Mohammed Al-Meer as the group CEO, succeeding long-time CEO Akbar Al Baker.
Commenting on future plans, Al-Meer hinted at the introduction of a newly-designed First Class cabin unique to Qatar Airways.
“Based on the demand from certain sectors, we see a high demand for First Class, and as such, have decided to introduce a newly-designed First Class cabin unique to Qatar Airways,” Al-Meer stated. “We are combining the experience of flying commercial and executive jets to develop something new. We are 70 to 80 per cent ready and are only finalising colours. We are hoping to announce it soon.”
