GCash Overseas launches, enabling Filipinos abroad to send money home easily

The popular finance app GCash announced the launch of GCash Overseas on Monday, March 18. This new feature allows Filipinos residing in 16 countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Germany, Qatar, Kuwait, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, UAE, and Australia, to send money back home to the Philippines more conveniently.

For years, OFWs and their families have faced the challenge of dealing with long queues at remittance centers or banks to send or receive money. GCash Overseas aims to change this narrative by offering a seamless digital solution for money transfers. The service is not limited to users with Philippine SIM cards; it also accommodates those with mobile numbers from their respective countries of residence.

The app’s functionality extends beyond money transfers. Users can also pay for household utilities, tuition fees, taxes, and buy mobile phone load for their relatives in the Philippines. This comprehensive range of services is made possible through GCash’s partnerships with Ikon Solutions Asia, a licensed recruitment agency, and Alipay+, a global payment platform. These collaborations build on GCash’s previous partnership with Visa, which expanded its services to over 100 million ships across 200 countries and territories.
