A man in Australia has been given a two-year good-behaviour bond after mailing faeces and urine to Hollywood stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Jared Leto. Veronica Grey, who identifies as male, dispatched the parcels from various post offices around Western Australia, labelling them as “valentine confectionary”.
The incident came to light when a package burst, spilling its contents onto a postal worker. Public broadcaster ABC reported that Grey had placed his faeces and urine in 23 different postal satchels.
The 49-year-old, originally from the Philippines and later a resident of the United States before settling in Australia, pleaded guilty to five counts of using a postal service to menace, harass, or offend.
Grey’s defence argued that the intent was not to intimidate the celebrities but to express his “passion for the environment”. Furthermore, a psychiatric evaluation revealed that Grey suffers from a mental health condition affecting his impulse control.
Magistrate Deen Potter noted the significant disruption Grey’s actions caused to postal services.
