In a heartwarming ceremony, 95-year-old Ibrahim Mbogo and his 90-year-old long-time love, Tabitha Wangui, finally tied the knot in a church wedding on Sunday, August 18. The couple, who first met in 1960, exchanged vows at a church in Mukurweini, Kenya, marking a special milestone in their six-decade-long relationship.
Mbogo shared that they had always been considered married under Kikuyu customs but felt it was important to have a Christian wedding. “We met and fell in love in 1960. We decided together that it would be great to have a white wedding,” he said after the ceremony.
The groom donned a grey suit with a silver tie, while Wangui wore a white hat and cream brocade jacket for their special day. When asked about the secret to their long-lasting relationship, Wangui advised, “Women, you must respect your husbands. If you do that, you will live as we have. If you make a mistake, apologize and seek forgiveness.”
