15-year-old child of returning OFW dies in Pangasinan motorcycle crash

A mother who had recently returned to the Philippines as an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) is mourning the tragic loss of her child in a motorcycle accident in Mangaldan, Pangasinan.

According to a report by Russel Simorio on GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon, it was revealed that OFW Rachel Carbonnel had come back to the Philippines to surprise her child for Christmas.

“It’s so difficult… it hurts because we will be celebrating Christmas without him. I thought I would be surprising him, but now he will be the one surprising me,” the grieving mother said.

Rachel’s son, Charles, lost control of the motorcycle he was riding on Angalacan Road in Barangay Pogo, Mangaldan, leading to the tragic accident.

“They were on their way to San Fabian when they lost balance, and that’s when they collided with the concrete barrier,” explained Police Captain Vicente Abrazaldo, Jr., deputy chief of the Mangaldan Police Station.

Meanwhile, in Ilagan City, Isabela, another motorcycle collided with a turning tricycle in Barangay Baligatan. The incident is currently under police investigation, and the rider tragically lost their life as well.

In a separate incident in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, a 63-year-old man on a bicycle was fatally hit and run by a tricycle. The victim’s family is appealing for the apprehension of the tricycle driver responsible for the incident.
