Overseas Filipino Workers from across Bahrain have flocked to Andalus Garden in Manama, last January 10, 2025, to join a lively Zumba session organized by the Solid Tropang Bahrain (STB) and to stress the importance of physical and mental well-being.
The Zumba class attracted participants seeking stress alleviation while enjoying the fellowship and camaraderie in a vibrant and encouraging environment, creating a positive and uplifting experience for all concerned.
Participants who were clad in colorful work-out attire thoroughly enjoyed the energetic music combined with choreographed movements; it helped bring about a good atmosphere that drew out community involvement and well-being apart from efforts to improve the physical health.
According to Dalia Divina Lictao, one of the officers of STB, “The activity was scheduled on the day off for OFWs so as to provide them a healthy and engaging alternative to the usual weekend routine and consider their physical and mental well-being.”.
Led by Toni Tallada, Editha Sumague and Apolinario Delos Santos, the rhythmic music and dynamic instructions attracted participants from all corners of the community, where everybody was more than willing to shake off the stresses of the workweek and indulge in pure joy through movement.
More than a workout, the Zumba class helped bring about a sense of camaraderie among colleagues and made the atmosphere for all—fun, lively, and supportive.
Founded by Editha Sumague, the organization intends to provide a venue for creating a haven of joy and belonging for migrant workers. Often, these workers are alone and away from family and their familiar environment and likewise to find solace from their monotonous daily routine.
Officers of Solid Tropang Bahrain (STB) is led by its president, Neil Gabrillio with Ed Kerwin Enguio as vice president; secretary is Secretary Princess Kelim and the treasurer is Fatima Codilla. The auditor role is held by Dalia Divina Lictao and Juvie Agustin. Janeth Delapeña is the Guidance Counselor. Rizza Bermudez holds the role of Membership Officer.
The Zumba session is one of the initial programs of STB’s in implementing a supportive network for OFWs in Bahrain, emphasizing community and wellness.
As the sun had set over the gardens, attendees walked out with smiles, new friendships, and renewed dedication to their health and well-being.
