YouTuber Boss Toyo opts out of public office: ‘Ayokong magmukhang katawa-tawa’

YouTube personality Jayson Luzadas, better known as Boss Toyo, has decided to withdraw from potential political candidacy, saying he’s not yet ready to enter public service.

In a press conference held in Bonifacio Global City, Luzadas revealed he was offered to be the second nominee for the Pinoy Ako Partylist and to run for councilor in Manila’s first district. However, he turned both opportunities down.

“Hindi pa ito para sa akin eh. Hindi ko alam kung kelan, hindi ko alam kung tatakbo,” he said, adding, “Ayoko namang daanin sa pagiging popular o kaya pagiging mabait o matulungin.”

Luzadas explained that public service requires more than good intentions. “Hindi sapat na umupo ka sa kahit anong posisyon kung wala kang alam sa pagpapatakbo,” he said. “Mahirap yan kasi tao na yung hinahawakan mo.”

Despite encouragement from peers, the online star emphasized he wanted to avoid being a figure of ridicule. “Actually lahat sila pinapatakbo ako, ako lang yung nag-beg off kasi ayokong maging katawa-tawa,” he said.

Instead of politics, Luzadas is focused on his music and digital projects. He celebrated his 44th birthday by launching the music video for his new single Geng Geng, a motivational track about perseverance and resilience.

He is also preparing to open a museum in May showcasing rare celebrity memorabilia, tied to his hit online show Pinoy Pawnstars.
