Young Indian expat dies while sleeping in truck in UAE

Authorities in Fujairah are awaiting forensic findings after a 29-year-old Indian expatriate was discovered dead inside the trailer truck where he had been sleeping, according to a family member who spoke with Khaleej Times.

The man, identified as Ansar, was found unresponsive on Friday morning inside the trailer he worked in. Police have yet to determine the cause of death, and official results are still pending.

His twin brother, Anas, said Ansar had developed a routine of sleeping inside his truck rather than in shared accommodation. On the night of his death, the trailer’s engine was not running and the windows were closed. Anas said his brother had been wearing extra clothing because of the cold and was using a heater inside the vehicle. The family is waiting for the forensic report from Fujairah Police to clarify what led to his death.

Ansar was originally from Kerala in southern India and had been living in the UAE for eight years. During that time, he had not returned home, though his brother said he was preparing to visit India next month. Ansar worked at a garage in Masafi and frequently traveled across the country for work. He had recently applied for a heavy truck driving license and was awaiting his road test, which he planned to complete before taking time off to see his family.

While Ansar was based in Masafi, Anas lived in Murbah, where he worked alongside their father and uncle in a family-run grocery store. Their father had already traveled to India earlier this month to attend to a sick relative. Anas said he had to inform his father of Ansar’s death due to required paperwork, after which the news was gradually shared with their mother.

Despite not having met in person for more than two months, Anas said he and his brother remained in daily contact and spoke regularly, even during busy workdays.

A social worker confirmed that the Kerala Muslim Cultural Center is coordinating the legal procedures and arrangements for repatriating Ansar’s body to India once formal clearances are completed.
