Zach David, fresh from an impressive fourth-place finish in the FR Middle East Championship, is gearing up for his next challenge – the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA), commencing this May. With aspirations of bringing honor to the Philippines, the 17-year-old driver is set to compete in all ten rounds of the championship, held across renowned European tracks.
Reflecting on his achievements in the FRMEC, David expressed his surprise at his success, stating in an ABS-CBN News report, “It was a bit unexpected because we struggled a little bit… but yeah, all of a sudden, from the fourth round and the fifth round, it was just like we found something that worked for us.”
Preparations for the FRECA season have been in full swing since last year, further boosted by the recent Middle East championship. David, representing French team R-ace GP, emphasized the collaborative effort in refining their strategy, focusing on rectifying weaknesses and leveraging strengths, particularly in race management and tire conservation.
Acknowledging the physical and mental demands of a longer championship, David emphasized his commitment to fitness and balance, despite the challenges of managing his studies alongside his racing pursuits.
With his eyes set on Formula 1, David is acutely aware of the pathway ahead, positioning himself just three steps away from his ultimate dream, according to the FIA Global Pathway to Formula 1.
