Xian Lim disclosed that he was not the one who initiated his breakup with Kim Chiu during his recent appearance on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.”
When asked by the “King of Talk” if he and Kim were still friends, the Kapuso actor responded, “Of course. Nagulat ako sa tanong. Of course, yes.”
Despite their long-standing relationship, Xian mentioned that they haven’t communicated since their split last year. “When that night happened, maayos ‘yung pag-uusap namin. Of course, merong iyakan, but there was that assurance na we—we went through 12 years, ‘di ba? 12 years of our existence, so it has that respect, you know?” he explained.
To clarify his role in the separation, Xian stated, “To be completely honest, I wasn’t the one who engaged in the separation. ‘Yun lang po siya. It’s that simple. I wasn’t the one who initiated the breakup.”
Xian acknowledged the emotional impact on their fans, who felt betrayed and angry, particularly at him. However, he emphasized his clean record throughout their relationship. “I think the length of [the relationship] speaks for itself and ‘yung mga pambabatikos sa ‘kin ng karamihan, I think they should just look at it from a lens na for more than a decade, I never had—my record is clean, and I’m proud of that,” he said. “The time speaks for itself. It’s just sad na maraming intriga na lumalabas, especially against me.”
He also addressed the false accusations made against him after their split and assured that his statements were not an attempt to promote his film, “Playtime.”
Xian and Kim confirmed their breakup in December last year but did not disclose the reasons behind it. Following the rumors in November, Xian issued a statement. In a magazine interview last month, he confirmed dating film producer Iris Lee, clarifying that their relationship began only after his breakup with Kim.
