World’s largest udon chain to open its first branch in Dubai

Dubai is about to welcome a new culinary destination as Marugame Udon, the world’s biggest udon restaurant chain, prepares to open its doors in the UAE. With over 1,100 outlets worldwide, the Japanese brand is known for its fresh, handmade noodles and dynamic in-store experience, combining quality with cultural authenticity.

The expansion into the UAE marks a major collaboration between Opal Food Concepts, Toridoll Holdings — the global company behind Marugame — and the UAE’s West Zone Group. Together, they aim to introduce a unique Japanese dining experience that balances tradition with local preferences.

“Marugame Udon is more than just a restaurant — it’s an experience that brings people closer to Japanese culture through honest, handcrafted food,” said Razeen Parambil, Founder and Director of Opal Food Concepts. “We’re proud to introduce this global favourite to the UAE and are confident it will quickly become a beloved destination for quality, affordable dining.”

The first UAE branch will open in Dubai, with the brand planning to launch 10 locations across the country over the next five years. Designed with inclusivity in mind, all menu items are Halal-certified, and many are tailored to suit local tastes. Signature dishes include the rich Chicken Katsu Curry Udon and the Vegetarian Japanese Curry, alongside regional twists like the fiery Spicy Maze Udon and complimentary green chili condiments.

One of Marugame’s signature features is its “Live Noodle Theater,” where chefs handcraft udon noodles in full view of diners — a spectacle that adds to the restaurant’s immersive and family-friendly charm.
