World’s heaviest gold dress worth AED 4.6 million turns heads in Sharjah

The world’s heaviest gold dress, weighing more than 10 kilograms and valued at AED 4.6 million, has been unveiled at the Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show in Sharjah, Khaleej Times reported.

The record-breaking piece, named the “Dubai Dress,” is crafted from 21-karat gold and officially recognised by Guinness World Records. It is made up of four components: a golden crown (398 grams), a necklace (8,810.60 grams), earrings (134.1 grams), and the traditional “Hiyar” piece (738.5 grams).

The extravagant creation is being showcased by Al Romaizan Gold and Jewellery, the same exhibitor that previously displayed a gold bicycle worth AED 1.5 million in earlier editions of the show.

This year marks the 56th edition of the five-day exhibition at Expo Centre Sharjah, featuring over 500 exhibitors and more than 1,800 designers and industry professionals from around the world. Among the attendees at the opening were Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO of Expo Centre Sharjah, alongside diplomats and leading figures from the global jewellery sector.

The exhibition runs until Sunday, with free entry for visitors. Opening hours are from 1pm to 10pm on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, and from 3pm to 10pm on Friday.
