A Thai woman was sentenced to six months in prison for stabbing her boyfriend three times after he refused to hand over his mobile phone. According to a Khaleej Times report, the incident took place on August 20, 2022, at their shared apartment in Dubai’s Al Muraqqabat area.
The Dubai court heard that the couple, who had a history of conflicts, were arguing when the woman saw her boyfriend in the kitchen, engaged in a voice chat with another woman. When she demanded his phone to check his chats, he refused and struck her on her left eyebrow.
In response, the woman grabbed a kitchen knife and warned him not to hit her again. As he tried to disarm her, she stabbed him three times. The boyfriend managed to leave the kitchen but collapsed in the bathroom, bleeding from his chest.
Panicking at the sight of the blood, the woman called the police and sought medical help for him. Emergency services arrived and took the man to Rashid Hospital, where he was treated for three stab wounds, two to his chest and one to his left forearm. A forensic report confirmed the severity of the injuries, noting a deep, life-threatening chest wound.
During the investigation, the woman admitted to the stabbing, explaining she did not intend to kill him but acted in self-defense after being assaulted. The court found her actions constituted intentional bodily harm rather than attempted murder. Considering that she stopped the assault and sought help for the victim, she was sentenced to six months in prison for assault.
The woman will be deported after serving her sentence.
