A woman from Texas was arrested after allegedly marrying her ex-boyfriend without his knowledge, sparking a bizarre case now under investigation in Beverly Hills.
Kristin Marie Spearman is facing a stalking charge after her former partner discovered a marriage certificate filed without his consent. According to the Beverly Hills Police Department, the victim contacted authorities on June 13 after returning home to find a gift bag containing two documents: a photograph of Spearman holding what appeared to be their marriage certificate and an official embossed copy of the marriage license. A note inside read, “Congrats, maybe call your wife.”
The documents had been signed by a local reverend and submitted to the county clerk’s office, which is now cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.
The man told police that while they had been in a relationship, the two parted ways after an argument, and he made it clear he no longer wanted any contact with Spearman—even going as far as changing his phone number.
Authorities confirmed that Spearman has since been released on bond but is under an emergency protective order. Police are working to ensure the situation does not escalate further.
Officials noted that the victim has incurred costs and effort to undo the unexpected legal mess. The case remains open as investigators continue to gather details.
