Willie Revillame, host of the game show “Wil to Win,” recently revoked a contestant’s prize after discovering she was a fan of his rival show, “Family Feud.”
During a live episode, Revillame called a female participant who had sent a letter expressing her desire to join the show to win the P50,000 cash prize for her children’s school expenses and her medical bills. However, the conversation took an unexpected turn when the contestant asked, “Saan po ba kayong programa?” (Which program are you from?). Revillame, visibly taken aback, asked, “Programa? Eh, ano bang pinapanood n’yong programa?” (Program? What program are you watching?).
The contestant replied, “Sa GMA po, Family Feud,” prompting Revillame to withdraw the prize, saying, “Ay ganu’n ba? Family Feud? Eh, sayang po, Wil To Win ‘to. Eh salamat po. Sayang no? Sana magwi-Wil To Win kayo. Sige po enjoy watching Family Feud, ba-bye!” before ending the call.
The incident quickly went viral on social media, with netizens divided over Revillame’s decision. Some supported the host, arguing that only loyal viewers should have a chance to win. “Dapat naka tutok ka sa show para may chance na manalo,” (You should be tuned in to the show to have a chance to win) one user wrote. Others criticized Revillame, suggesting his actions were more about self-interest than genuine generosity. “Ginagamit lang niya ang pera para sa sariling interest,” (He’s just using money for his own interest) another user commented.
