Dining at Lamesa Restaurant at the Asiana Hotel in Muraqqabat, Deira, Dubai, has always felt like returning to an old favorite that never disappoints. Nestled on the 5th floor of a hotel known for its inviting bars and celebrated dining spots, Lamesa specifically caters to Filipinos but draws in all Asian cuisine lovers with its extensive buffet.
Despite being a familiar spot for me, each visit to Lamesa feels distinct. Perhaps it’s my unwavering love for their signature pork dishes or the joy of sampling an array of Filipino specialties that I can’t find collectively anywhere else. This time, my visit was with colleagues on a bustling Saturday evening just before 7 PM. We were greeted by a lively scene of customers already queuing up for their dinner experience. While Lamesa does welcome walk-ins, I’d recommend securing a reservation to avoid the wait, especially during peak hours when tables fill up quickly.
The first thing you’ll notice about Lamesa is its spacious layout and the different sections that cater to various tastes. The staff, as always, were attentive, ensuring that our dining experience was seamless from start to finish. Priced at AED 89, the buffet offers excellent value for money, though drinks are not included. We opted for iced tea to complement our meal, which proved to be a perfect match for the rich flavors ahead.
The highlight for me, without question, remains the crispy pata and lechon kawali—perfectly cooked, crispy, and deeply satisfying. These dishes have maintained their high quality since I first tasted them in 2017, bringing back the same joy each time. Of course, there’s always a small voice in my head reminding me of my doctor’s advice on moderating pork intake, given its fat and sodium content. But at Lamesa, resisting these dishes is easier said than done.
On a recent visit, I discovered that every Tuesday, Lamesa hosts a Visayan theme night. This special night features beloved dishes from the Visayas region, including Beef Balbacua, Sinugba, Kilawin, Bam-I, Humba, Beef Kansi, and Chicken Inasal, among others. This themed night adds a unique twist to the regular buffet, making it an even more special occasion for those craving the distinct flavors of the Visayas.
There are also Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese section, offering traditional dishes that round out the buffet’s Asian culinary exploration.
The salad bar offers a refreshing assortment of vegetables and fruits, while the dessert station features an array of sweets. From biko to buko pandan, these Filipino treats are a sweet way to end the meal.
Beyond the food, the restaurant’s ambiance is warm and inviting. It’s easy to see why Lamesa is a favorite for family gatherings and company celebrations. During our visit, it happened to be Halloween, and we watched as around 50 colleagues from one company celebrated together, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the evening.
The value for money is undeniable, with an impressive selection and the consistent quality of dishes making it worth every dirham. The staff’s attentiveness and genuine hospitality add a special touch that makes each visit memorable.
