Actress-comedienne Rufa Mae Quinto has admitted to experiencing challenges in her marriage with husband Trevor Magallanes. Despite the difficulties, she remains hopeful that their issues can be resolved.
Speaking on the Friday episode of Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, Rufa shared her perspective on their current situation. “As a wife, I’m waiting for us to clarify things and talk. I want to know if what he’s feeling is real. I’ve been away a lot, so maybe we just need time to reconnect,” she explained.
Rufa acknowledged that her busy schedule often keeps her away from her husband, which may have contributed to their strained relationship. “I understand his feelings because, honestly, I’m not always around. It’s not just about me being right—he has his reasons too,” she said.
While there have been no formal divorce filings from either side, Rufa said she is willing to respect Trevor’s decision should he choose to end their marriage. “If he doesn’t want to continue, I’ll respect that. But right now, there’s no divorce filing on either side,” she clarified, adding humorously, “I’ve had enough cases filed in my life already.”
Rufa also shared that their daughter, Athena, has been affected by the ongoing issues. “She asked, ‘When will our family be together again?’ It’s hard to answer that,” she admitted.
Despite the challenges, Rufa expressed gratitude for Trevor as a husband and father but noted that he struggles with the public attention her career brings. “He’s not used to the spotlight and prefers privacy. Sometimes, he gets hurt by what people say,” she said.
As the actress reflected on their situation, she reiterated her love for Trevor. “I love him, and I want our family to be whole. But if he decides otherwise, I’ll respect his choice, no matter how painful it is for me,” she said.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2016, share a daughter, Athena, born in 2017. Last December, Trevor revealed on social media that they were already in the process of divorce, but Rufa has yet to confirm any legal action.
