Wednesday, January 1, 2025, declared public holiday for UAE government employees

The UAE Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has announced that Wednesday, January 1, 2025, will be a public holiday for government employees. This will mark the first public holiday of the year, aligning with the official list of holidays released earlier.

In 2025, residents in the UAE will enjoy up to 13 public holidays, including significant Islamic observances. Notably, the Eid Al Fitr holiday schedule will see a slight adjustment. Depending on the length of Ramadan, residents may get up to four days off, covering either Ramadan 30 to Shawwal 3 or Shawwal 1 to 3. This contrasts with 2024, when the break extended from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3, resulting in a nine-day holiday for many.

Arafah Day, the holiest day in Islam, will be observed on Dhul Hijjah 9, followed by a three-day holiday for Eid Al Adha (Dhul Hijjah 10-12), giving residents a total of four days off.
