The children of former President Rodrigo Duterte traveled to The Hague to see their father, who remains under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Davao Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte shared on social media a photo with his siblings—Vice President Sara Duterte, Davao City Vice Mayor Baste Duterte, and their youngest sister Kitty.
“We carry hope in our hearts that one day, distance will fade and we’ll be whole again with our father. We love you, Pa. #BringPRRDHome,” Paolo wrote in his post.
The former president was arrested on March 11 following an ICC warrant for alleged crimes against humanity tied to the bloody anti-drug campaign during his time as Davao City mayor and later as president.
Official records from the Philippine government listed more than 6,000 fatalities in police operations under the war on drugs, while human rights groups claim the number of deaths, including unreported cases, could have reached as high as 30,000.
