VOX Cinemas, under Majid Al Futtaim, has just launched what it proudly calls the “best IMAX screen in the world” at Mall of the Emirates, Dubai—setting a new global standard for luxury movie-watching.
At the heart of this next-gen theater is the integration of Ōma Cinema®’s premium pod seating—making VOX the first in the world to bring this patented French design into an IMAX experience. The pods, designed by French architect Pierre Chican, resemble mini-tiered balconies that can be reserved individually or as a group, each seating up to five guests for a more intimate and elevated cinema experience.
These exclusive pods come with full-on luxury: plush reclining seats, blankets, pillows, and even a full waiter service offering curated dishes from the VOX THEATRE menu—served for the first time ever inside an IMAX auditorium. Guests also enjoy access to the VIP THEATRE Lounge for pre- or post-movie relaxation.
But it’s not all about comfort—VOX’s IMAX theater features cutting-edge tech, including a custom-built screen with IMAX’s 4K Laser Projection System and proprietary optical engine. The setup delivers unmatched picture clarity, brightness, and vivid detail, while its next-gen precision sound system wraps the audience in deep, evenly distributed audio.

This major upgrade is part of VOX Cinemas’ ongoing transformation of its Mall of the Emirates location, which began with THEATRE—now equipped with privacy screens, premium seats, and gourmet lounges. Its standard experience has also evolved into the Premier class, offering flexible seating options with tray tables and state-of-the-art laser visuals.
Next in line for upgrades are the family-focused KIDS cinemas and VOX’s social areas, promising fun and functionality for younger moviegoers and those celebrating special occasions.
