Vice President Sara Duterte has issued a scathing critique of the Philippine government, addressing key issues related to security, health care, infrastructure, and democracy. In her statement titled “Mensahe Para Sa Aking Mga Kapatid na Muslim (A Message to My Muslim Friends),” Duterte expressed her gratitude to various Muslim tribes for their concern over her security. However, she emphasized that the nation’s security is far more important.
“The Philippines should be ruled by people who have concern and ability to uphold an honest government and the nation’s progress,” Duterte asserted. She lamented that the current leadership lacks commitment to their sworn duties, causing fear for the future among Filipinos.
Duterte, who recently resigned as the Secretary of the Department of Education, decried the country’s inadequate infrastructure, health care system, and security, along with foreign interventions in domestic affairs. She emphasized that Filipinos deserve better leadership and conditions.
“But the Philippines now continue to go hungry, poor, and declining because of deceitful people who want to be in power,” Duterte said, criticizing the government for its failures and corruption.
Highlighting the lack of a comprehensive flood-control plan and an effective health care system, Duterte criticized the House of Representatives for not addressing the police personnel shortage and other crucial issues. She also condemned airport officials for failing to secure private flight details and video footage, which included her family, during Super Typhoon Carina.
Duterte also rebuked the government for allowing the International Criminal Court (ICC) to interfere in the country’s domestic matters, particularly in relation to her father’s war on drugs.
“The Philippines, as a free nation, should be standing up against foreign intervention in our domestic affairs,” she stated, pointing out the need for national sovereignty and self-reliance.
While Duterte has not admitted to any falling out with President Marcos, she attributed her resignation to personal and work-related issues.
