Vice President Sara Duterte mentioned that she considered utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) for editing her speech at the 2023 Global Education and Innovation Summit.
Emphasizing the potential role of technology in the field of education, Duterte recounted a conversation with a colleague while they were editing her keynote address the previous night.
She recalled, “I asked, ‘Why are we editing this keynote? Shouldn’t we use AI to edit this keynote at this hour?’ My colleague responded with a hushed warning that someone might overhear.”
However, the Vice President also expressed her reservations, noting that AI can evoke emotions of shame and fear due to the unfamiliarity surrounding it.
“It appeared to me that AI evokes shame, evokes fear, because of the unknown,” she remarked.
Despite the apprehensions, Duterte remains optimistic about the future. She believes that AI has the potential to lead a paradigm shift in the realm of education.
But she also cautioned, “While this possibility will present newer and greater opportunities, it will also bring many uncertainties in our vision of digital education.”
