Dubai authorities are now enforcing stricter entry guidelines for travelers on visit visas, requiring them to carry Dh3,000 in cash, a valid return ticket, and proof of accommodation, tourism agencies reported to Khaleej Times.
According to Firoz Maliyakkal, founder and CEO of Tahira Tours and Travels, “Previously, checks included having a valid visa and a return ticket. However, authorities are now also ensuring travelers carry sufficient funds, in any currency equivalent to Dh3,000, and a verified accommodation address in the UAE.”
Libin Varghese from Rooh Travel and Tourism highlighted the necessity of these measures: “Airport checks aim to safeguard travelers and prevent issues like overstaying. This will positively influence Dubai’s tourism sector by ensuring only prepared travelers enter the emirate.”
However, these regulations have already impacted travelers. Abin S, who landed in Dubai from Kerala, shared his struggle at the airport. “I was required to show Dh3,000 and had it, but proving my accommodation became a challenge as I was staying with a cousin who didn’t have accommodation registered under his name. I ended up stranded at the airport for four days,” he explained.
Another traveler, Abhishek, faced difficulties even before leaving India. “At Cochin International Airport, they demanded to see Dh5,000 in cash or a valid hotel booking. Despite having the funds in rupees, they insisted on dirhams. We tried to provide all necessary documents but were still barred from boarding,” said Bijesh, Abhishek’s brother-in-law.
The tightened monitoring has prompted tourism agencies to advise all travelers to ensure compliance with the new rules to avoid similar predicaments.
