Visit visa holders in Dubai are facing difficulties in renewing their visas, with reports surfacing about applications being rejected and limited options for renewal being provided. Many visa holders are left with the ‘extension’ option, raising concerns among travelers and travel agents alike.
In an exclusive interview with The Global Filipino Magazine, a travel agent based in Deira shared insights on the ongoing situation.
“Most extension [sa visa] ang ginagawa [ngayon]. Apparently, maraming pong naririnig na rejection through exit,” he said, highlighting that extensions have become the primary alternative for many visa holders. However, he noted that extensions can only be done twice, leaving limited options for those who need longer stays.
In a separate interview, an owner of a travel agency in Satwa expressed confusion over the rejections.
“Wala na daw na-issue [na visit visa]. Baka inside na lahat,” she said, suggesting that approvals might now be limited to those already in the UAE. The travel agent added that processing an ‘airport-to-airport exit’ is currently unavailable in the system.
“Dapat daw home country ang exit after one month tsaka daw po pwede bumalik as tourist visa,” she explained.
The situation remains unclear, and travel agencies and visa applicants are waiting for an official announcement from the relevant authorities in Dubai.
“Baka magbago pa ang rules kasi magha-holiday,” the Satwa-based travel agency owner added, hinting at potential adjustments due to the upcoming holiday season.
The UAE government is currently running an amnesty program that allows visa violators to regularize their visa status. Running until December 31, 2024, this program gives individuals the option to either stay in the country by rectifying their visa issues or leave without facing fines.
Dubai typically offers several visit visa options, including:
- 30-Day Visa: Permits stays of up to 30 days.
- 60-Day Visa: Allows for up to 60 days.
- 90-Day Visa: Enables up to 90 days of stay.
