UAE residents planning getaways to visa-free destinations during the upcoming National Day holiday can expect to pay up to 300% more for airfares. Travel experts attribute this surge to increased demand and limited seat availability as people look forward to the long weekend from November 30 to December 3.
Popular destinations like Georgia, Azerbaijan, Thailand, Armenia, and the Maldives have seen significant price hikes. For example, round-trip tickets to these destinations, which typically cost around Dh800, have soared to over Dh2,800 during the holiday period.
Pavan Poojary, a travel expert at Luxury Travels in Abu Dhabi, explained in a Khaleej Times report, “The National Day holiday is a prime travel period for many UAE residents, leading to these steep increases in airfares.”
Additionally, travel industry executives warn that the rise in airfare will also elevate the cost of travel packages. They advise residents to plan and book early to avoid higher prices.
