Kubra Aykut, a 26-year-old Turkish TikTok influencer renowned for her viral “Wedding without a Groom” series, has died by suicide. The incident occurred on September 23 in Istanbul, where Aykut reportedly fell from the fifth floor of a luxury apartment building in the Sultanbeyli district.
Authorities discovered a suicide note at the scene, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is ongoing. Fans had expressed concerns about Aykut’s mental health, following troubling posts in the days leading up to her passing.
In her final social media update, Aykut shared her struggles with weight gain, writing, “I lose a kilogram every day. I don’t know what to do; I urgently need to gain weight.” Just hours before her death, she posted a TikTok video cleaning her house.
Aykut gained fame on TikTok in 2023 with her unique series where she symbolically “married” herself, stating, “I can’t find a worthy groom for myself.” She had amassed over a million followers on TikTok and 207,000 on Instagram.
Her funeral is set to take place in her hometown, with fellow influencers expected to attend and pay their respects.
