A video circulating online shows a robbery in Saudi Arabia involving a man alleged to be Filipino. The incident occurred around 9 PM on December 23, 2024, with the suspect pointing a firearm at a Pakistani taxi driver and taking the driver’s earnings for the day.
Reports reveal that the stolen money was meant to be sent to the driver’s family in Islamabad, where his child is reportedly ill. CCTV footage from the taxi, which included audio, captured the suspect saying, “masakit sa mata” before committing the crime.
Saudi Arabia imposes harsh penalties for such offenses, including up to 15 years in prison and 100 lashes.
The incident has drawn condemnation from overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), who voiced concerns about its potential to damage the reputation of Filipinos globally.
