Victim of road rage incident by dismissed police officer opts not to press additional charges

The victim in a highly-publicized road rage incident involving dismissed police officer Wilfredo “Willie” Gonzales has decided not to file additional charges. Captured on video three weeks ago, Gonzales was seen hitting a cyclist on the head and brandishing a gun.

Though Gonzales was charged on Tuesday with the lesser offense of alarm and scandal, the victim, known only as “AB,” has chosen not to escalate the legal battle.

Translated, the statement reads, “I hope they respect this, because to tell the truth, I am feeling depressed due to the pressure they are putting on me. What I ask of them is to respect my decision.”

AB made it clear that no financial compensation was involved in his decision, emphasizing that it was a personal and family choice aimed at avoiding further conflict.

His reluctance to pursue additional legal avenues has led to concerns and criticisms over the handling of the case, including possible negligence by local law enforcement.

Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, QCPD Chief, has urged the public and the cycling community to come forward with any information that could strengthen the cases against Gonzales, given that the lack of a complainant limits the charges that can be filed.
