Vice Ganda urges officials to improve healthcare facilities, not just give aid

Unkabogable Phenomenal Box Office Superstar Vice Ganda voiced serious concerns about the state of public hospitals in the Philippines during a heartfelt segment on It’s Showtime on Thursday, January 2. The comedian highlighted the shortcomings in healthcare infrastructure despite the implementation of the Universal Health Care (UHC) program.

Vice Ganda criticized the lack of essential facilities in public hospitals, pointing out that while UHC aims to provide free medical services, many patients are forced to seek treatment in expensive private hospitals due to inadequate public resources. “Pag pumunta ka sa public hospital, wala naman silang pasilidad. Wala silang gamit. Pati nga kama sa ospital, eh kulang na,” Vice Ganda said.

The entertainer called on government officials to maximize PhilHealth funds by investing in more hospital beds, equipment, and other vital healthcare needs. “Gumawa kayo ng pasilidad. Magdagdag kayo ng pasilidad,” Vice Ganda emphasized, urging action to address the gaps in public healthcare services.

Vice Ganda also underscored the importance of educating Filipinos about their healthcare rights under the UHC program, suggesting that local barangay officials take an active role in disseminating information.

The segment ended with a powerful reminder to public officials: “Hindi sapat po ang 500 na ayuda tuwing makikita kayo. Kailangan niyong magpagawa ng mga pasilidad sa ospital.”
