Vice Ganda has retracted his tweet about apologizing to Axel Cruz, a contestant on “It’s Showtime” who was involved in an incident during the show’s “EXpecially For You” segment on May 31, 2024.
The TV host-comedian clarified his stance during the live episode on June 4. “I take back my tweet that I will say an apology because I do not need to apologize for what I did,” Vice Ganda stated. “This is my belief, and we believe that we do not need to apologize because what we did was right.”
The controversy arose when Vice Ganda called out Axel Cruz for kissing the searcher, Christine, without her consent after she did not choose him as her date. Vice Ganda addressed Axel directly on the show, saying, “Oy, hindi pwede yun, that’s bad! Don’t do that, you ask for permission. Do you know you can be sued for what you did? Don’t do that, you can’t just steal a kiss.”
Another host also reprimanded Axel, saying, “Di puwede yun, Axel.”
