Comedian and television host Vice Ganda recently countered a netizen’s comment that alleged his mother was financially dependent on his showbiz success. This response followed a netizen’s criticism of celebrities who are considered family breadwinners.
The controversy began with a post critiquing Andrea Brillantes’ mother for expressing pride in her daughter’s role as a breadwinner. One netizen commented, “Mader, sending your kids to school and building them a house is YOUR responsibility. Hindi nakakaproud un na anak mo ang gumawa ng dapat ginawa mo! Now back to you, ikaw anong ambag mo???”
Ahhhhhhhh excuse me!

Another user extended this criticism to other celebrities, including Vice Ganda, Francine Diaz, Kathryn Bernardo, and Bea Alonzo, labeling them as breadwinners.
Vice Ganda, known for his work on “It’s Showtime,” responded by sharing his personal story. He emphasized that his mother never relied on his earnings. Instead, she worked overseas to support their family in the Philippines. “Ahhhhhhhh excuse me! Never umasa sakin ang nanay ko. Nagpakabayani sya sa ibang bansa para magkapagpadala sa amin sa Pinas at makaraos kami,” he stated.
He further defended his mother’s financial independence and requested that she not be included in such discussions.
Netizens rallied in support of Vice Ganda. Comments ranged from humorous to supportive, with many praising his decision to speak up and defend his mother’s dedication and hard work.
One fan humorously commented, “HUWAG SI MEME. HUWAG SIYA. 😂,” while another expressed admiration, “YES MOTHER! TELL THEM!!!”
