Veteran actor Vic Sotto has filed 19 counts of cyberlibel against controversial director Darryl Yap at the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court earlier today.
Sotto was joined by his wife, Pauleen Luna, and legal counsel, Atty. Enrique “Buko” dela Cruz, during the filing. According to Dela Cruz, the charges stemmed from 19 instances of defamatory posts made by Yap.
“Each damaging post constitutes one count,” Dela Cruz explained in a Phil Star Global report.
Regarding individuals who shared Yap’s posts, Dela Cruz clarified that separate complaints would be filed. “We have already filed a Writ of Habeas Data related to this matter and are awaiting the court’s decision,” he said, adding that the criminal case solely involves Yap.
The case was initiated after Sotto’s name was mentioned in the trailer of Yap’s upcoming movie, The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma.
