Starting May 19, the US Embassy in the Philippines will strictly require all immigrant visa applicants to present complete original documents during their appointments or risk cancellation and rescheduling.
In an advisory, the embassy warned that applicants who show up without the necessary paperwork will not be interviewed and must book a new appointment, which could take months to secure.
Applicants are required to bring the following: a valid passport, original civil documents such as a birth certificate, an original police clearance like an NBI clearance for those aged 16 and above, an affidavit of support and financial or tax documents from their petitioner or joint sponsor, the DS-260 confirmation page, and their interview appointment letter.
Additional documents may also be required, including a medical examination report from St. Luke’s Extension Clinic, an NBI clearance showing any aliases, the petitioner’s original birth certificate, or proof of termination of any previous marriage such as a divorce decree, annulment, or death certificate.
“All immigrant visa applicants should be prepared for their appointment,” the embassy stressed, adding that missing documents cause major delays and limit the number of people they can assist each day.
