The University of the Philippines’ Ventures for International and Transformative Academia (UP VINTA) program was officially launched to the public by the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai. The event, that lasted two hours from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, was the most visible demonstration of the university’s commitment to providing quality education to Overseas Filipino Workers and their families.
The launch program was hosted by UPOU Linkages Officer Ms. Margaret Jarmin Suarez. The activity began with welcoming remarks from the Consul General of the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai, H. E. Marford M. Angeles, and an introduction to the program by the UP System Vice President for Legal Affairs, Atty. Abraham Rey M. Acosta. The UP Open University Chancellor, Dr. Melinda dP. Bandalaria officially launched the UP VINTA program, outlining its objectives and strategic value. The UP System President, Atty. Angelo A Jimenez and the Ambassador of the Philippine Embassy, H. E. Alfonso Ferdinand A. Ver both delivered inspiring messages about how this program can truly change people’s lives through education.
An open forum allowed attendees to interact with the UP Vinta Team and learn about the program’s specifics. The event, which is the third phase of the VINTA project, concluded with closing remarks by UP System Vice President for Development, Dr. Daniel C. Peckley Jr. and a social session, which allowed participants to connect with alumni and OFWs, fostering community spirit.

The launch of UP VINTA, also attended by UP Manila College of Nursing Dean, Dr. Sheila R. Bonito, UPOU Faculty of Management and Development Studies Dean, Dr. Joanne Serrano, and UPOU Master of Arts in Nursing Program Chair aProf. Ria Valerie D. Cabanes, marks a new era in transnational education, with significant benefits for the global Filipino community.
